“The Bruno”

The Robert Bruno Steel House, affectionately known as THE BRUNO, is a historic Hub City icon renowned for its audacious design and status as a masterpiece of modern architecture.

Created by the visionary sculptor and architect Robert Bruno, this awe-inspiring structure has gained worldwide recognition for its fusion of art and engineering.

Started in the 1970s and made from 110 tons of hand-welded, rust-colored steel, The Bruno defies traditional architectural boundaries. Its spaceship-like form is a testament to Bruno’s three-decade-long labor of love, a project in which every angle and weld was meticulously crafted to evoke a sense of movement and life.

The Bruno is not just an architectural feat but a living sculpture, its design full of imaginative curves, wild welds, and unexpected forms.

The exterior reflects Bruno’s artistic mastery, while inside, the same attention to detail is carried through in custom steel stairwells, arched doorways, and vibrant stained glass. With 2,450 square feet of space, The Bruno features three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and a fully remodeled gourmet kitchen, blending modern amenities with Bruno’s iconic vision. The upstairs suite includes a walk-out balcony, offering a breathtaking view of the surroundings, while the walls, made from locally sourced recycled steel, exude strength and artistic depth.

After Bruno’s passing, the current owners took great care to honor his unfinished work, completing the home with a keen eye on his original plans. They incorporated Bruno’s old sketches into their design choices, adding more stained-glass windows and ensuring every update, from the blonde wood-like vinyl floors to the new air conditioning system, stayed true to his legacy. What began as 70 percent complete has become a fully livable, luxurious space, finished with the same love and artistry that Bruno envisioned.

“The Bruno” is more than just a house—it’s a monument to artistic ambition and architectural daring, symbolizing West Texas innovation and serving as a landmark recognized far beyond its borders.

Fully furnished and currently a functional short-term rental, the Bruno offers potential buyers an excellent investment opportunity and a chance to own a piece of architectural history like no other.

The surrounding community complements the home’s uniqueness, offering private lake access, a swimming pool, a community center, and even fishing for residents. Seasonal parades and stargazing parties add to the charm of this one-of-a-kind locale located only 20 minutes from Lubbock, TX.
