Beneath the New Mexico sky, Country Road is a passive solar, grid-tied home generating enough energy to be self-sustaining.

Custom-designed by and for a creative spirit, the interior of this authentic southwest home is perfect for an artist or art collector. The current owner, an award-winning photographer, features her artistry on the walls with accent and track lighting, while “nichos”, both lighted and unlighted, show off art pieces.

Blue, amber, and green bottles embedded in small “bottle windows” cast a tinted glow on floors and furnishings as the sun rises and sets. Catch the moonrise!

Passive solar in the winter warms the tawny-colored concrete floors through south-facing picture windows. The warmth spreads to the stabilized adobe walls and the plaster-covered Pumice-Crete walls.

Softly curved walls and wide arched doorways entice you into high-ceilinged rooms. A dramatic see-through fireplace creates ambiance in both the den and living room.

The galley kitchen has both granite and stainless-steel countertops. Enjoy cooking with a Gaggenau In-Counter Steamer, a Sub-Zero refrigerator, a Jenn-Air gas cooktop, and a Jenn-Air wall oven. Custom-built cabinetry provides ample storage.

Other interior comfort features making Country Road ideal for retirement include extra-wide doors, easy access from both garages to the house through a mud room, and the convenient location of the washer/dryer in the back hallway. The house has two water heaters, whole-house water softening and whole-house fresh air systems, solar backup to any power outages, and thick insulated walls for efficient heating and cooling.

Outdoor Living

Live in a climate of four gentle seasons with breathtaking mountain views. Wildlife is plentiful here, with native mule deer at sunrise and sunset, hawks and occasional eagles, and many different types of birds, including several species of hummingbirds and quail families.

Of the 10 acres of land, an acre just outside the house has been landscaped, including xeriscaping, with mature native and drought-tolerant plants.

Outdoor living is further enhanced with a large ramada/pergola with lights and electrical outlets, low walls for setting flowerpots, adjacent areas for a grill, and a convenient water faucet nearby.
